32: NEWSFLASH FROM THE FUTURE

I’m writing this… FROM THE FUTURE!

Actually, it would probably be more accurate to say… I’m writing this from the present.

It’s Sunday February 12th 2023 (the same day this blog entry has been posted).

It’s NOW! My now anyway, as I write this.

Any of you who read the introduction to this blog will know that nearly all of the posts describe events which occurred a year ago.

Stop Telling Me I’m Brave is a ‘memoir’ blog, after all.

So why am I suddenly writing from the present, now?

Well…  I have a confession to make.

The confession is this… these posts are beginning to suffer from temporal drift. Things are lagging. I’ve fallen behind in my posting!

I’m no longer posting things exactly a year after they happened. It’s more like a year and a few weeks. Maybe even a year and a month (plus a few weeks).

I’ve tried to stick to the ‘year later’ rule, but it’s been difficult. Life has sometimes got in the way. Including things like me finally getting Covid (just over a year after Lizzie had it).

So, as I said, I’m now posting things very roughly a year after they happened (plus a month or so).

Why are you bothering to mention this? you might ask. Frankly, who cares? It’s YOUR blog! Do what the fuck you like!

Of course, you’re right. I guess I’m only mentioning it in case any of you are wondering why Lizzie’s chemo, as described in the blog, is going on quite a lot longer than I said it would, at the start.

Actually, Lizzie’s chemo DID go on longer than we were expecting it to, a year ago. Lizzie’s Covid meant some of her chemo sessions had to be pushed back.

But the main reason for the extension to Lizzie’s chemo in this narrative, is because of the ‘temporal drift’ I mentioned above.

So there you have it. My big confession.

Anyway, let’s get back to the story… and turn the clock back a year(ish).
