I thought that was the end of this journal, but then life went on… and things kept on occurring which I felt like I wanted to include (I mean, it’s not like our lives suddenly came out from the shadow of Lizzie’s cancer, the moment she was told she was currently cancer-free by her oncologist. Lizzie’s journey, with her illness, might potentially go on for years more. There’s no way of knowing whether she’ll get a recurrence, at any point in the future, or not).
So… apologies if you like the stories you read to have just one ending. Just before writing this, however, I remembered Billy Crystal’s joke – in an old Oscars Ceremony – about ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’… about how the film had managed to win an Oscar (twelve in total) for each one of its endings.
The film did have a lot of endings, didn’t it? Most of them involving tearful hobbits, as I seem to recall.
Anyway, my thinking is… if that film can get away with twelve endings, then why shouldn’t my blog get away with a number of endings, too? So, that’s what I’m offering.
There’ll be another sort of ending, to the story, by the time we reach post 75 (14 posts away). But then, the blog might continue after that too. Who knows?
Anyway, before then, coming up are more of the journal entries I wrote immediately after Lizzie was given her ‘all-clear’ (in spring 2022)… but before it really sunk in that life post-cancer-diagnosis was never really going to be the same again.
